Mosaic Beach Ocean Scene Mixed Media OOAK art by Mel Fischer

I chose to take a very liberal approach to a Sailor's Valentine. I pictured what it would be like to be a sailor, and one's worst fear of being lost at sea. So I chose the concept of, "If I were stranded on a desert island, the one and only person I'd want to share it with is you."

The piece is titled, "If I Were Stranded...". It is on handcut Wedi Board and the beach ball is hand-sculpted in plaster. Small mother of pearl birds fly in the sky as the ocean gently kisses the beach of crushed shells, beach sand and pebbles. Sea shells and river rocks are scattered on the beach.

Dimensions: 22" x 14" x 3" with hanging hardware, specifically for Wedi Board, is pre-installed.
